Indie Biz: New Collection Launch

Watermelon Tote Bag

For a long time I’ve wanted to be a designer; I even still have a sketchbook, from being about eight years old, full of dress designs and dreams! It’s funny really – jewellery was never part of my plan to be a designer and despite being friendly with a girl at art college who’s final project were these gorgeous silver smithed brooches, it never even crossed my mind that I would be making a living from designing jewellery all these years later.

Don’t get me wrong I have completely and utterly loved it, it has been the most beautiful serendipity to stumble into becoming a jewellery designer and I will always, always house a jewellery collection under Onetenzeroseven: I have new ideas for designs and full collections every single day. This time, though, I wanted to come out of my comfort zone and start designing and creating more of the things that I love in everyday life.

I have always been an absolute hoarder of stationery and it has been unbelievably exciting to work on this brand new product range of notebooks, sketchbooks and notecards. The sketchbooks in particular are the same brand and quality as the ones I’ve used all through high school, to a-level and art college so to be able to bring them to you lovely folks with my designs on has just warmed my little happy heart. It’s kind of like the end of a chapter and the opening of a new, terrifying & unpredictable one. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be awesome though.. and I have a gazillion more tricks up my sleeve!

What do you think of the new range? I like the idea of being able to send a matching necklace and card to a faraway friend as a birthday gift! If there are any other existing Onetenzeroseven designs you’d like to see on stationery, be sure to comment below or let me know on Twitter!

Outfit Post: Rockabilly Ruins

Fifties style

So this has been one of the most fun projects I’ve worked on so far here on my blog. Inntravel, a walking holidays company based in Yorkshire, sent me this Polaroid camera to take part in their #MyYorkshirePhoto campaign. Of course I jumped at the chance to celebrate the greatness that is Yorkshire and you can join in too! Just pop down to your favourite Yorkshire location, take a photo and tag Inntravel on Twitter and hashtag #MyYorkshirePhoto.

Polka Dot Outfit Post

To celebrate the awesome that is Yorkshire, we wandered down to Kirkstall Abbey at the weekend; it was a beautiful day! There were families playing ball games, kids riding their bicycles and dogs panting their little tongues out. There was even a food & craft festival on, but we were too late to partake in any of the tasty treats! It’s funny how you don’t realise how great a place is when you have it at your fingertips. It only took us 25 minutes to walk there so we’ll definitely have to make more use of it this Summer. There will be more photos in a blog post later in the week!

I’m also debuting a piece from my brand new product range!! You guys have been helping me choose which designs to start out with and it looks like the Anchor has been a popular choice, so here it is: The Anchor Tote Shopping Bag! I am soooo excited. What do you think? These bags aren’t your typical canvas tote bags, they’re much wider making them great for carrying home your shopping or squeezing in all your folders and essentials for work or university. They should be available to purchase next month! If you don’t want to miss out, you can follow me on Twitter or sign up to my mailing list to be notified when they go on sale.
