Outfit Post: How To Wear Red

How To Wear Red
I honestly think that going all out is how to wear red. Personally I don’t like red with many other colours so I often accessorise it with, well, red! A while ago I shared my best tips for dressing an hourglass figure over at StyleFruits and this is one of the pieces I chose for them to send me to best represent my shape. The nipped in style accents the small waists of hourglass gals and the wide shoulders balance out the flared skirt that skims over my big hips and hides my (often poorly!) stomach.

Red Dress Outfit Post

Yorkshire Fashion BloggerIf red is a bit too intense for you, try dressing it down with a very neutral colour instead of black as black with red will create a very bold, colour blocking look that might make you feel even more self conscious. If red is your thing, though, just go for it! Don’t believe the lies, either; Red and green should be seen!

Of course my shoe of choice had to be The Brogue, hands down. I’d happily dress this outfit up with heels, but for a night out with a lot of walking these comfy cream brogues from H&M were ideal and give it a bit of a 50s vibe with a cute neck scarf too.

Brogues with Dresses
Red is definitely a colour to embrace, even if you have a super pale complexion like me. It’s one of my favourite colours for clothing. I’ll be taking this dress away on holiday with me in October as it’s so light and easy to wear, so I’ll let you know how I think it compares on tanned skin… hopefully. The holiday countdown is on.

The Five WOWs: Date Night Special

What to Wear, Date Night, Dinner

1. Floral Scarf Print Jacket | Yumi  //  2. Harris Tweed Clutch Bag | Miss Tree Vintage  //  3. Summer Freckles Bow Shoes | Irregular Choice  //  4. Midnight Glass Necklace | That Old Blue House  //  5. Burgundy Lace Midi Dress | New Look

These alluring red dresses* are perfect for date night. With it’s sultry lace and deep red colour this body skimming dress stays classy with a below knee length.

Burgundy has always been one of my favourite colours, long before the ‘oxblood’ craze ;) It’s such a flattering colour and a great shade if you’re too afraid to go full on red. I also think it looks great with both sophisticated blacks and more bohemian browns.

I’d wear the above outfit to a special occasion dinner with my boy. Don’t have a date? Grab the girls instead and go for some cocktails! The outfit below features a more casual and fun choice for date night that I would wear to cosy up on the sofas at the Everyman Cinema. Don’t have a date? Go see some live music with your girlfriends :))

What to Wear, Date Night, Cinema

1. Red Skater Dress | New Look  //  2. Tan Chelsea Boots | Office  //  3. Skull Print Scarf | Accessorize  //  4. Stitch Detail Belt | Dorothy Perkins  //  5. Denim Shirt | H&M
