We’re so close with our kitchen now, the floor is almost laid and we’ve picked out each piece we want to make it our dream kitchen/diner. Our next project will be to furnish the home bar area we want to put in at the far side of the room.

Super cool homewares store, Bo Concept, asked me to tell you guys about their brand new Edinburgh store’s designer furniture and home collection and it’s given me the heart eyes for what I want to do with our home bar space.

1. This crazy patterned rug would add some comfort to the bar and lounging area as the main kitchen floor is chequerboard tiled, but I think the mismatch of black and white patterns would be really fun too.

2. & 3. We want to give the bar area a bit of a Mexican Fiesta theme and these hand painted skull bottles are ideal for displaying on the booze shelf, long after they’ve been emptied of tequila and continuing with the Mexican theme we couldn’t possibly live without these cactus cocktail glasses as a little extra touch!

4. I love, love, love hanging bulbs with cool cables and this one is red, a perfect addition to the space to make it feel like a real city bar. A few of these hanging at different heights would be my dream lighting situation.

5. I love this amazing red leather sofa bed which would match perfectly with our American Diner themed vinyl seating booth and also give us extra room for when guests come to stay – something that’s always been important to me in a dream home. You can design your own day beds by choosing the style you want and from a gazillion fabric choices!

As you may know, I have a soft spot for a few things in Edinburgh (namely Red Squirrel bar, Mary’s Milk Bar and hello, that amazing castle) so it’s not like I needed an excuse to go back, but Bo Concept have just opened a new store in Edinburgh and I’m all about the super cool house things right now so I may just have to take a trip to see a few things in person.
