Ladies… I’m sorry to be the bearer of annoying news, but “Samantha Brick” is trending on Twitter again so I headed over to the dreaded Daily Mail to see what the fuss was all about this time.
Clearly this woman is writing controversially for controversy’s sake (and the DM let her because of the publicity… and they’re evil) but sadly there are some very upset women out there as a result.
I just want to say to you ladies that if what she’s written about is truly Brick’s life then I think it’s very sad. I’m a size 14 and it’s not even beautifully cooked, michelin star food that has a few too many calories that gets me – it’s the simple things. I LOVE pizza, cheese, cake(!) and what’s more I enjoy eating it. I don’t feel guilty. I also eat fresh fruit and vegetables and try to live an active lifestyle, it’s all about balance.
I’ve been ‘skinny’ and I felt like crap. It just doesn’t work for my body. Don’t get me wrong, currently I would love to be in better shape and sometimes I look in the mirror and get upset with the way I look, but this honestly happens to me once a week at most… not every single time I come to eat a meal. Not when a friend offers me a lovely gift of chocolates. And hey, some days I look pretty damn good!
We’re all different shapes and sizes, it’s in our genes, but you do not have to be thin to be successful. As far as I’m concerned a successful life is not depriving yourself of the things that your body needs and creating every day to be a battle. A successful life is being happy with who you are and the people that you surround yourself with. You don’t have to be thin to have a successful career, you don’t even need to be the best, you just need to work really hard and have drive and passion and determination. I don’t know about you, but depriving my body of essentials, or even luxuries, is a sure fire way of making it unwilling to work to my best abilities.

First of all, they don’t. Not all men. And most importantly you should not live your life with the sole goal of snagging a man. You will only be disappointed. I’m lucky to have a boyfriend who is my best friend and who I love with all my heart, but I don’t live in his pocket. I need more than that. I know that someday he may not share my bed anymore and I have dreams that don’t revolve around him. There’s a whole world out there for you to explore and none of it needs to have anything to do with food… except pizza. I will never give that up ;)
