The Five WOWs: 50s Diner Kitchen Inspiration

American Diner Style Kitchen, Home Decor

Mint Green Aga | Aga  //  Retro Booth Seat | Drink Stuff  //  Kitchen Accessories | Dot Com Gift Shop
Jukebox | UK Jukeboxes  //  Checkered Tablecloth | Party Packs

My obsession with wanting an American Diner Kitchen started when I saw a corner booth on Pinterest. I’ve never wanted a dining room table, they seem to take up so much unnecessary space and just become a dumping ground when not in use. I really grew to detest the dining table at our old house. When we were looking to buy a house I knew I didn’t want a dining room space, but when the corner booth idea came into my life I decided I wouldn’t mind a space to serve dinner if it was a fun take on dining.

Of course, as my obsessive personality soaked up the idea, things progressed quickly and now we can’t wait to create a proper American Diner Style Kitchen in our new home. The mint green, red, black & white colour scheme is so reminiscent of a 50s style diner that it makes such a perfect choice for us. I’d love a cute mini jukebox on the table like this one from UK Jukeboxes and diner style accessories like these from Dot Com Gift Shop – they have so many more to choose from!

I think we’d take the checkered idea one step further and do out the floor in huge black and white tiles, but for just a nod towards the style you could pop this table cloth from Party Packs onto your normal dining room table and get the same feel for one special night!

You can see more of my crazy 50s diner kitchen ideas on Pinterest and follow my thought process as I design our new kitchen. Did someone say dinner party?

The Five WOWs: Boyfriend Style, Shirt, Satchel & Brogues

Boyfriend Brogues

Brogues | Crockett & Jones  // Satchel | Fossil //  Necklace | BijuBrill
Ankle Socks | Dorothy Perkins  //  Shirt Dress | Apricot

I love the boyfriend style trends, my favourites being the lumberjack shirt and you know my love for brogues is rather well documented, but sometimes you want to add an air of sophistication to it and sometimes you just want to be God damn girly!

Crockett & Jones asked me to tell you guys about their shop in London and wow, these are the prettiest brogues I ever did see! I love the delicate ribbon in place of the laces, which is something I’ve never come across on a pair of brogues before, but definitely should be included more often. I have major heart eyes. The ribbon gives these brogues immediate femininity to a typically boyfriend style piece and they have a great selection of ladies shoes with a similar feel. Definitely popping in to their store next time I’m in London.

The shirt dress is a new piece from Apricot’s collection and as soon as I saw it I wanted to dress it up with navy. Tan and navy is one of my absolute favourite colour combinations, so I’ve been craving Autumn to swing around again so the shops would be full of these earthy hues. This unusual handmade necklace adds a subtle selection of other Autumnal colours too… if you’re looking for a striking statement necklace you can’t make a mistake with a floral piece, they will always be in style!

Look at those adorable socks from Dorothy Perkins! I need more ankle socks in my life and these have such a cute frill to add a delicate touch to chunky brogues for awesome boyfriend style that suits me to a tee.

How would you dress up the trends to reflect your own personality?
