Shake It Milkshake Bar in Headingley, Leeds

Milkshakes Headingley Leeds

Last week we were sat out in my yard in the scorching heat wondering what to do with the afternoon, so it was the perfect opportunity to wander up to Headingley and try out Shake It Milkshake Bar. The decor is adorable candy-coloured, American diner style and the menu has almost too much choice. You could stare at all the options for hours, which some of us almost did, but if you look over the back of the counter you can see all the sweets and chocolates piled up giving you a bit more of a visual aid to salivate over!

I chose a Mint Oreo Milkshake with a topping of Mint Poppets… where else can you put together such an amazing concoction?! I’m a total mint fiend. The milkshakes are made with ice cream and presented in cute pink candy stripe cups with a scoop straw. They were delicious and pretty reasonably priced too, as milkshakes go these days. The large size was just £3 and toppings were an additional 30p. If you’re on a health kick you don’t have to miss out on the fun because they do smoothies too, with fresh fruit and frozen yoghurt.

Ever since I finished the last mouthful I’ve been daydreaming about which flavour combination I’ll try next time at Shake It Milkshake Bar… maybe something a little more crazy like Black Jacks or Parma Violets. Old school, to match the fun fifties decor and I’d definitely like to sit on the diner style couch for a good giggle on a sugar high!

Outfit Post: Dotty For Polka Dots

Polka Dot, Summer, Red, Black, White

This time last year I wrote this post welcoming in August and getting excited for all my Summery plans! I’m a big fan of those “what will I be doing this time next year” ponderings, so exactly a year on this is how my August is looking.

In a couple of weeks my best girly friends and I are going on a road trip from London to Edinburgh to see this fella on tour! We’ve done this a number of times now and it’s always ridiculously fun. We get kind of a cabin fever that makes us totally insane and of course we’re hyped up on lots of sugar and wine and giggles ;) This time I’m hoping to put some plans in place that will make it easy for me to blog from the road; Four or five blog posts in a row (one from each day) which is a little daunting for me, but will be an excellent reminder of the tour if I can pull it off.

Aside from that I want to take it easy this August. Last year was so much fun and I have some excellent memories and a fondness for August 2012, but sadly I’m not in the best state of health this year so I want to concentrate on getting fit, eating well and being in the best possible state to rid the evil illnesses from my body! I’m even cutting out caffeine, which is a terrible thought for me!! ;)
Hopefully though, it should give me lots of time to reflect on my wee business plan and decide which roads to take before the crazy Christmas shopping period hits. I want to be in a much better place come the new year, so I’ve lots of hard work to go.

These photos were taken on a little romantic walk boyfriend and I took near my house. It was so much fun discovering a new nook just by taking a road I’d never been down before. This bridge and underpass are so kooky and hidden that I hope to eventually get the courage to take my own outfit shots here, alone. Eep! It’s a beautiful space for spending some time clearing your mind, too. Have you discovered any secret hiding places that you can go and have some me-time? Head out in your neighbourhood and see what you can find!
