Joy Leeds New Store Opening

Joy Leeds Opening

Last Friday my local Joy store moved out of the Light shopping centre in Leeds and onto Albion Street into the old (HUGE!) Urban Outfitters building. They now have at least twice as much space, which means twice as many kooky gifts and twice as many pretty dresses! YAY.

Joy held a huge event last weekend where the first 200 shoppers that arrived in ‘Beachy’ dress won a goody bag, plus there was a prize draw, fun photo booth and pop up Tiki bar run by Tiger Tiger.

The weather was fantastic (which is a very rare treat here in Yorkshire!) and, with a pop up beach being set up on the streets of Leeds, it made for a super fun day to dress all Summery and spend some time with my loved ones!

In the goody we got a piece of jewellery (mine ironically ending up being a pair of moustache earrings, though thankfully not a similar design to my best seller!) some just-for-fun sunglasses that caused endless laughs throughout the weekend, a nautical coin purse, some cosmetics samples, that I will have to review in my Beauty School series, and some flyers/vouchers.

The new store is packed with fun features and gorgeous touches. While the old store was beautiful (and I will miss those huge dangling diamante strings) the new store is much more of a whole experience. There is a great mix of vintage decor and bright popping colour. Just look at this awesome camera wall!

I’m so excited that the Leeds store has become the Joy flagship store. As you know Joy is one of my very favourite brands and when I interviewed the store manager a few months ago I was completely overwhelmed with her passion and outlook on fashion. I really think there are some great things to come from Joy Leeds; They are one of a small handful of stores that are completely restoring my faith in retail and the high street. Someday soon we might be able to do away with the lifeless wracks of a hundred of the same t-shirt and focus on independent brands and the actual act of buying something being a personal experience. If that’s what you’re looking for, head down to Joy on Albion Street, Leeds.

If you missed the opening, the fun didn’t stop there. If you’re on the streets of Leeds this week look out for the Style Stalker who will be ready to pounce on the best street style looks and handing out vouchers to their favourites! You can follow Joy Leeds’ antics on Twitter and keep your eye out for events and promotions.

To top off an excellent day I got to meet a blogger friend for the first time, Kaz from Sunshine Days (who also blogged about the event!) who was absolutely gorgeous! We had a lot of fun taking a million photos.. it’s always better when you don’t feel like the only snap-happy loon ;) Here’s a quick photo of us in our Beachy Dress by what seems to be the most Summer like part of the store; Look at those neon colours and floral prints!

In the afternoon I went for Sushi with my friends & work colleagues: Leah & Mummy Oneten! We racked up quite some dishes at Yo! Sushi. Happy day <3
