I wore this outfit to a networking event at the weekend where I knew there would be tonnes of bloggers and lots of people taking photos. I didn’t want to be fiddling with my clothes all day so I was looking for something comfortable, but still stylish and cool.
We’ve just got a new Matalan store at the bottom of our road so I nipped in there on Thursday evening to check it out and found this lovely gypsy style blouse. It was the perfect piece to build my outfit around to conceal my crazy stomach issues.
The closest thing I’ve ever been diagnosed for is irritable bowl syndrome. Long story short, my stomach is always so bloated and painful so I feel massively subconscious in tight fitting clothing, even just a t-shirt and jeans. So just in case there are more of us out there I want to share with you how to style a gypsy blouse with IBS.
Underneath the blouse I am wearing a sleeveless black bodycon dress, one of probably the top five most worn items in my wardrobe. Weird huh, since I hate anything tight fitting? The bodycon dress is absolutely perfect for layering, I can feel all dressed up baring my legs or pair it with tights and add a piece over the top to conceal my stomach.
I love this blouse because although it’s super loose, it still has a feminine shape around my hips and a cute frill hem that slips over my belly bump. The crazy patchwork pattern also draws the eye away from any lumps and bumps and the sleeves are so cute!!
I added the jacket and hat as they are such a great neutral colour that they will go with almost anything. It was so great to step out in this outfit for Spring without worrying about not wearing a scarf or slouchy cardigan that I could use to hide my IBS. It also meant I didn’t have to worry about eating and drinking something that would flare up and bloat my stomach, always a win!
I opted for flats too to make the whole outfit super comfortable. Brogues are my favourite flat shoes as they’re still dressy and stylish enough for all occasions without crippling your feet in heels. These pink ones always add that extra sparkle too and people love them… Daisy even snapchatted them at the event!
