DIY: Pretty Storage Boxes To Keep You Organised

Home Organisation
I installed these huge bookcases in my studio just before Christmas and they’ve been amazing; they literally take up the entire of two walls in the room, which was rather tiny to begin with, but I’ve been wondering where they’ve been all my life. Since the crazy Christmas rush has subsided I’ve been slowly taking shelf by shelf and making it pretty as well as organised, then Hobbycraft stepped in as crafty white knights and sent me these pretty storage boxes to try out.

Pretty and Practical Storage
The Curver storage box is ideal for keeping my fabrics safe and the colours go great with my cute cake stand and these sweets I got in a goody bag that I can’t eat because they have faces on (don’t ask!) – At least the packaging is fancy enough for displaying! The real winner, though, is this Click Box Storage Stack by Prym which is ideal for categorising my laster cut pieces for my jewellery brand. There’s tonnes of space in there for such a small box and the little handle makes it really easy to carry my supplies around – you could even use one of the trays for your tools so you can make stock on the go. I might try this for craft fairs so I can be productive while I exhibit.

How To Store Jewellery Supplies
As I was decanting my supplies from the old boxes to these new pretty storage boxes, I was thinking about how my business has grown over the years. It’s not an easy thing to notice when you’re right in the middle of it all, but looking back over the years of how I stored my supplies it was heartwarming to see how I’d got to this stage from the teeny tiny boxes I used to use when I first took up jewellery making as a hobby back in 2011. Now I have a fully functioning studio that I use only for my business and I keep huge amounts of stock at a time, making sure I can cover the amazing peaks in sales I get at certain parts of the year or to be able to fill a wholesale order as soon as it comes in. I’m so proud of what my little business has achieved!

Why not pick up some craft supplies yourself and give it a go? Running your own business is so incredible and I have lots of business tips for you here on my blog :)

Outfit Post: River Tees, Stockton

Skull Cardigan

Music took me across the country again, this time to Stockton for the Dead Meadow show. We’d usually head to London as a default for shows, but we decided we just couldn’t afford to pay crazy London prices this time and the gig was at The Georgian Theatre which is a wonderful hidden gem just off Stockton high street, so it was totally worth the trip.

I got to chat to Jason, the lead singer/guitarist of Dead Meadow and who just happens to be the boyfriend of Jessica from Black Willow Jewelry! He’s a lovely fella and I thought it was adorable that he took this photo of me to show Jessica that I was wearing some of her pieces.

We did this walk along the River Tees, Stockton twice; it was beautiful both times and the river was deathly still and kind of creepy. It made for some great photographs with the reflections of the buildings, bridge and wildlife in the water.

I bought these boots from the Natural Shoe Store in the January sales and their service was excellent. I have found it a struggle to get Minnetonka here in the UK, so it was a pleasant surprise after I’d searched for them for so long. In true Minnetonka style, they’re seriously comfortable and so cosy warm it’s unbelievable! My dress is actually a beach cover up from Oysho; I visited one of their stores in Spain and fell in love with everything. If you ever pass by, make sure you pop in!
