SEVEN: Tips To Bag Those Elusive Tickets

How to get tickets before they sell out

Wanting to go to that gig or event, but the tickets are sure to be an immediate sell out? I’ve been buying gig tickets since I was 11 years old (Yup, I was a huge pre-teen Boyzone fan!) but these days buying tickets is a long way from the Saturday mornings calling the ticket line at exactly 9am. Recently I’ve bought tickets for the instant sell-out Bruce Springsteen gig at Leeds Arena and Secret Cinema’s Back To The Future event that caused ticketing chaos when the servers went down on release day. I’m not claiming I’m a great expert, but I’ve definitely picked up some tips along the way:

1 // Assemble the team! Gather round the folks you’re going to the gig with and get everyone involved in trying to secure those tickets. The more of you trying, the more chance you have of getting through. Just make sure you let each other know as soon as you advance to the ticket page so you avoid a double booking!

2 // Pre-prepare! If you can, sign up to the ticket site in advance of the ticket release date. This should save you time when inputting your details to purchase and in some cases you may even receive pre-sale privileges.

3 // Be the early bird! Make sure you’re set up in front of the computer (or phone!) with all your relevant web pages open in plenty of time. Then about 10-5 minutes before the release time start sporadically refreshing the page. Sometimes ticket lines open a few minutes before they really should.

4 // Do some research! Find out if the ticket hosts have any other outlets that may be less popular. Leeds Arena have an in person box office in the city and Secret Cinema used to have a ticket shop on their Facebook page. If less people are using the service, you’ll get to the front of the queue faster.

5 // Be in the know! Make sure you know when you’re favourite band is touring. Ents24 is a great site for sending out notifications for upcoming tours and events.

6 //  Set reminders! If you’re a forgetful oaf (like me!) set a tonne of reminders on your phone to make sure you don’t forget to buy tickets. I use an hour before, half an hour before and 15 mins before as my intervals. By the last one I aim to be sat down with all my tabs open and my credit card burning a hole in my pocket.

7 // Social media! Have a couple of tabs open to check the event hashtag on Twitter and/or any relevant Facebook pages. This was invaluable during Secret Cinema’s Back To The Future as there was so much confusion with the servers not working. Fellow fans can inform each other of where and when they’re getting through and securing those tickets.

Make sure you use official ticket outlets as recommended by the event holders. If something looks or feels dodgy, research first and as an extra security purchase using a VISA card or Paypal so you’re protected against fraud.

Good luck!! x xx

Outfit Post: Memories of Lanzarote

What To Wear To The Beach

The beach at Puerto del Carmen is this vast, gorgeous, golden sand that stretches for what seems like forever. The water is so blue and fresh and crisp and the wind sure does knock you off your feet. This was the only time Boyfriend and I made it into the sea on our vacation earlier this year.

I’m not much of a beach-bather, I don’t like the sticky feeling from the sand mixing with the salty sea and how do those pesky little grains get in so. many. places?! A walk along the sea, however, is one of my favourite things in this crazy world. The pure colours of the sand and the sky depicted in these photos just take me right back to this day; it really was as beautiful as it appears.

Beach Wear, Summer Style

Maxi Dress, Maxi Skirt

I’ve never been a maxi dress/skirt girl, but I own a couple of these lacy crop tops and thought a maxi would be the perfect accompaniment. I grabbed this floral one super last minute from Forever 21, simply because it was so cheap and I was on the shortest shoe-string imaginable, and it’s perfect! The pattern features enough colours so that it goes with practically everything in my summer wardrobe and it’s so comfortable and easy to wear.

How awesome is Boyfriend’s t-shirt? He grabbed this at the NBC store in New York City. I just love that it says Mr Manager on the back!

Mr Manager, Arrested Development

Beach Gym, Muscle Beach
