Video Diary: My Birthday Wishlist

It’s my birthday on the 18th of this month and I’m getting quite old now! I decided this would be the perfect excuse to share my moving face and awesome Yorkshire accent for the first time ;)

Inevitably with my birthday coming up, I’ve been thinking about all the things I could want. Some people work differently where birthdays are concerned, so it’s always useful to have a little bank of ideas in case someone asks – usually to tell your other half who passes on the message “in secret”. Cue, “How did you know?” :))

When you get to your late twenties (argh!) you often find there’s not a lot you really go without. Sure I have a wish list of things that I could want, especially when I’m trying to save money after my recent freelance debut, but when I really thought about it – there’s nothing I could want that is as important as what someone else needs. So this year, instead of gifts, what I would really love for my birthday is for friends and family (both online and off – that includes you, Mum!) to make a charitable donation to the Dogs Trust.

The Dogs Trust is a charity that is quite dear to my heart; that’s where we got our Frank from three years ago and I think they do really excellent work. Their centres have everything you could need to care for their doggies until they’re ready to go to new homes of their very own.

To get the donation ball rolling I’m going to start by taking the money I would have spent on a new outfit for my birthday and donate it instead. I really don’t need any more clothes as I have endless outfits in my wardrobe, but those pups need food and warmth and folks to love them.

So if you’re generously thinking of buying me a gift this year… or sending me a card, or even buying me a drink to celebrate – please instead, make a donation. I have set up a Just Giving page where you can still leave me a birthday message (that I will be collating together to make a keep sake from) and it would mean the absolute world to me if you can help me celebrate by supporting all these poor homeless pups and help make room for new ones that are currently on the streets, stuck in stray kennels awaiting their fate or being abused by some evil human, to get their dream come true for my 27th birthday.

Even just £1 could feed a dog for a week.

THANKYOU!!! And a special thanks to Sarah Hey and Dog’s Trust Leeds for helping me make this video.

Loves x xx
