myHermes Review and 15% Discount for YOUU.

A while back, being an independent business owner, I was asked by myHermes (•) to try out their new small parcel service. I send 5-15 parcels out twice a week to both individual customers and larger wholesale customers and I had been looking for alternative shipping options, so after checking out the service details online I agreed to give it a whirl.

Unfortunately my experience didn’t get off to a good start and I had to abandon my first booking to use an alternative service.
You must enter your parcel details before you can select a collection day and it wasn’t until this point that I realised the parcels could only be collected the next day at the earliest.
Thankfully this situation could be rectified simply by knowing the cut of time and being more organised. Upon closer inspection I discovered you could book up until 10pm the night before you wanted the parcel collected.

The system for booking your shipment is very smooth. All the details are contained on the one page, meaning you don’t have to click through several pages to complete your booking, nor do you have to flick between pages if you think you’ve made a mistake.

The opportunity to add extra compensation and ‘signature upon delivery’ is very conveniently located and also very reasonable, adding a signature for just over £1 extra. All shipments having a tracking number included as standard.

myHermes price list as of October 2012

I was a little disappointed that there was no option to specify a time period for collection.. not even morning or afternoon. However the next morning I had a knock at 9am from a super friendly myHermes worker to collect my parcels. He gave me his mobile phone number along with his name and said I could call him in advance to check when he would be in my area to collect.  Very impressive and useful for a busy independent business!

Alternatively there is the option to drop off your parcel at various ‘ParcelShops’, but I didn’t try this out myself.

You can also specify a ‘safe place’ for collection AND your customers can also specify a safe place for delivery, meaning more items will be delivered to them first time!

The thing I was most impressed with was the label printing. My absolute worst part of packing up orders is having to re-feed the printer with the same label sheet over and over, but with myHermes the labels print out in one smooth move, yet you also have the option to print them individually. (Please note, however, that printing the labels isn’t compatible with Firefox. This isn’t isn’t specific to myHermes, however, and once I switched to Safari everything was good to go.)

You can also pay for each shipment individually or the whole lot at once via their easy to navigate check boxes.

All in all the service was very convenient, the website easy to navigate and all parcels were delivered with no problems.

Going forward I’m afraid the service is a little too expensive for the majority of my small parcels, at £3.30 incl. VAT for 0-1kg, as typically each parcel contains just one pair of earrings. However I will definitely be revisiting this service when I extend my range with new products next year :))

Thank you, myHermes! You get 4 gold stars (out of 5!)

Now YOU can try out the myHermes small parcel service by receiving a 15% discount on your first shipment!
Visit and enter the code ‘onetenzeroseven‘ at checkout (expires 30/11/2012).

Don’t forget to pop back and share your experience with them, I hope it’s as good as mine!

Loves x xx
