I’m very proud of my musician friends today. They inspire me to find my own brand of success :)

100% Handmade: Riddings Hall, Ilkley

Last weekend we had family visiting from California including 12 week old Ben, my brand new sort-of-nephew.

I suggested we took a trip to Ilkley to see the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and to pop into the 100% Handmade craft fair event. Unfortunately the weather scuppered the countryside part so instead we went to the fair and finished with a trip to Betty’s Tea Room.

I’ll post pictures of the rest of the day later with added ’12 week old baby’ cuteness, but I wanted to visit the fair to help me decide whether I want to set up there for one of their events. Getting from my house to Ilkley on the train is pretty easy and the church hall is minutes from Ilkley station. Being able to get public transport is key since I don’t drive and I don’t want to rope someone in to help me. I like to be independent!! :P

The fair itself was very small, taking place in a small church hall. However the atmosphere was lovely and the quality of the stalls was excellent, the stallholders really made an effort with their displays. I loved the marketing materials too, very beautifully produced which is always a plus in my book and, unfortunately, something you don’t see very often.

LHP Designs Stall

Although I didn’t buy anything from LHP Designs (yet!) I had to photograph this stand as I thought the layout was beautiful and very complimentary to the products for sale. The collection of their products was gorgeous. I love the wooden props and the branded cards and illustrated boxes. It really was almost like walking into a beautiful boutique, which is such a wonderful atmosphere to be able to create on a stand at a craft stall.

After visiting 100% handmade I’m leaning towards taking a stand there and giving it a go, despite the utter disaster that was my first and only fair. I definitely think this research first, book a stand second approach is the way to go for the future!

Loves x xx
